About Event

Yalova Mtb Cup is a sports organization that targets the natural and cultural promotion of the province of Yalova, designed by ALTINOVA district, with the participation of domestic and foreign professional riders.

The result of each race will be published on the web site as soon as possible after the confirmation of PCP.

History

There are also traces of the Byzantine reign which soon gave way to the Ottoman Empire.

Yalova History

The first settlement in Yalova dates back to the Prehistoric period with findings dating back to 3000BC. The first rulers in Yalova were the Hittites who ruled around the 21st century BC and they were then followed in the 13th century BC by the Phrygians. The Kimmer invasion took place in 700 BC and there are notable traces of the Bithynian influence prior to Bithynia being annexed to Rome as a bequest in 74BC.

Yalova hot springs and thermal hotels are located to the south of the Sea of Marmara, 11 kilometers southwest of the town of Yalova in a wonderfully green setting. There is a good State road connection between Istanbul - Yalova and Bursa - Yalova, Altinova also has a new highway with a suspension bridge over the sea. Car and passenger fast ferries have a regular schedule from Yenikapi and Pendik piers in Istanbul to Yalova city center, ranging between 45-75 minutes depending from the point of departure. Also a regular (slower) car ferry connection runs between Darica - Eskihisar in order to ease drivers from/to Istanbul.

WEATHER

Yalova has a climate that is best described as borderline Mediterranean/humid sub tropical. The winters are cold to residents however very mild (high 40*F – mid 50*F) to those from other countries, and the summers are hot and humid. January and February are on average the coldest months with temperatures averaging 50*F and the warmer weather begins in May through to October where temperatures average mid 60*F with July and August well into the high 70*F. During the summer months there is on average three days of rain with December and January seeing as much as 12 days of rain in the month.
